This week I have 4 solid rap artists for ya. I don’t even like rap that much to be honest. Like a lot of popular music, rap has become more style over substance and in an era where dance music is becoming more and more popular, the style is getting tired and boring. There are just so few really good rap artists out there today. I won’t get into the whole money, hos and rims argument, it’s more played out than the actual act of rapping about dem tings itself. Maybe it’s just me, but I find lyrical rappers way more entertaining than the other stuff.
Anyways, on the docket this week : Chiddy Bang, Hoodie Allen, Wiz Khalifa, and the People Under The Stairs. Enjoy.
Exit Row - Wiz Khalifa : Wiz Khalifa is blowing up right now due to his smash hit Black and Yellow, which is a song about a either a school bus or a bumble bee. This song has a great hook and I love the piano. I do believe this is an unfinished track as well. Look for it on his new album coming out at the end of March.
Under the Sheets (Chiddy Bang Remix) - Ellie Goulding : Chiddy has been hard at work getting their name out there by doing some pretty crazy remixes (Fuck You by Cee-Lo, Stylo - Gorillaz). This is a remix of a Ellie Goulding song and you can’t go wrong. The girl has a great voice.
Dreams Up - Hoodie Allen: White kid’s got swag. That’s all I can say. I really like his style. Currently unsigned, but I see big things for Hoodie Allen in the near future.
Youth Explosions -People Under the Stairs: P.U.T.S are an underground rap duo. Something that I love about them is that they sound a lot like Jurassic 5 and A Tribe Called Quest.
