Batman

Wow. Just saw The Dark Knight last night in the Imax. It was really, really good. If you’re going to see it, go see it in the Imax. There’s a couple of scenes (including all the action sequences!) that were filmed with Imax cameras that were just amazing to watch on a huge screen.  There were a few scenic shots of Gotham, and I think Beijing, that were so breathtaking, it made me feel like I was there. Right from the get-go, there’s a pan of the city and you could hear the “whoa’s” in the audience. I remember getting goosebumps a couple of times throughout the movie. It was beautifully shot. If you’re a fan of High Definition video and sound, this is definitely worth the extra 3$.

Seeing that movie just for the Joker would be worth it alone. Heath Ledger’s portrayal was so chilling and unforgettable. I never took the Joker character seriously before this movie and always thought that he was a bad arch nemesis for Batman, but after seeing this, I’ll never look at clowns the same way again. I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone who hasn’t seen The Dark Knight, but let’s just say the phrase “How about a magic trick?” will be quoted for years and years. Dead or alive, the guy needs to be recognized for that role. I’ve never seen anything like that since maybe Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs. Truly terrifying. I really hope that this movie blows Spiderman 3 out of the water box-office wise because it definitely deserves it. It’s now my favorite superhero movie.
