Music Monday: The Strokes -Undercover of Darkness.
I am extremely excited for Angles, the first album in a long time from one of my favorite bands ever. Although this song is good, it didn’t blow me away. I don’t know if I was expecting it to though. I do miss the way they make 2 guitars sound like they’re making love to each other. So good.
The band was on hiatus for quite some time doing they’re own thing. I guess John Lennon said it best “Everyone blames Yoko Ono for splitting up the band, but nobody gives her credit for all the beautiful music that Paul, George, Ringo and I made on our own.” She was still gross and weird.
Although not on par with any solo effort from the Fab Four, Albert Hammond Jr. had a really nice solo album back in 2006 called Yours to Keep.

Julian Casablancas also had a solo album fairly recently called Phrazes for the Young back in 2009. It was good. I think I liked it more than most critics gave it credit for. Because of the greatness that surround The Strokes, I think too much is expected from him. It was catchy, and fun. Sure. But now that The Strokes are back together, writing songs as a 5 piece unit, as their album title suggest, maybe we will see a return to form from the post punk Juggernauts.
